Scott Mebus has
been creating music, theater and fiction since he was 13 years old.
His first comedy essay appeared in his school newspaper, which eventually
led to him biting the hand that fed him with a parody issue. His first
commission as a songwriter came when he was 16, when he co-composed
the fortieth anniversary theme song for the Harwich Junior Theater.
He has continued to do commissioned work, writing and producing the
theme song to the show "Outward Bound" airing now on the
Discovery Channel, and doing countless scoring for MTV and VH1. Scott
has written several plays which have been performed in New York, Albany
and Cape Cod. He has performed as a stand-up comedian at such comedy
clubs as Stand Up NY and The Boston Comedy Club. He also spent some
time as a sketch comedian, writing and performing comedy bits with
his group BAD SAM.
In 1996, Scott decided to turn his talents to music theater. The result?
The rock musical Tarnish. The first draft of the script landed him
an Artist in Residency at RPI University, where he worked with the
Young Actor's Guild to perform Tarnish the summer of 1998. He rode
the success of that production to New York, where he produced Tarnish
Off-Broadway at the International Fringe Festival.
Currently, Scott works as a producer for MTV and VH1, as well as a
freelance music producer and editor. He has written numerous TV ads
and full-length videos, working on projects as disparate as The Tom
Green Show and The Real World. He currently resides in Manhattan.
